15th Baltic Military Fair
Gdańsk, Poland, 25-27 June 2018 / AMBEREXPO

140 Polish and international exhibitors took part in the 15th BALT-MILITARY-EXPO Baltic Military Fair, which concluded in Gdańsk on 27 June 2018. BME featured the NATCON International Science and Technology Conference and the RESCUE EXPO International Conference and Exhibition of Medical Rescue. BME enjoyed the honorary auspices of the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda on the Centenary of Poland’s Regained Independence, 1918–2018.

BALT-MILITARY-EXPO
is inseparably linked with the sea and the coast, with a focus on maritime safety and security, defence and rescue systems on land and at sea. BME is organised in close partnership with Poland’s General Command of Branches of Polish Armed Forces and the Inspectorate for the Navy. This year’s edition hosted leading manufacturers and suppliers of cutting-edge weaponry, equipment and gear from 15 countries: Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Pakistan, Sweden, Thailand, the UK, the USA and Poland.

This year’s BALT-MILITARY-EXPO had 4,150 trade visitors from 31 countries: Albania, Algeria, Belarus, Bulgaria, Brazil, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, People’s Republic of China, Poland, Romania, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the UK and the USA.
BME was visited by the commanding staff and officer corps of the Polish Army, services subject to Poland’s Ministry of Interior and Administration and high-ranking foreign military industry associates. BALT-MILITARY-EXPO was also visited by ministry-level delegations and military attaché corps delegates accredited in Poland.

BALT-MILITARY-EXPO featured an extensive programme of content-rich events. This year’s edition had 30 events, including conferences, seminars and debates:

• Counter-terrorist and rescue exercise demonstration, code name KORSARZ 18. Port of Gdynia – Kościuszko Square
• Vessel demonstrations: Lithuanian Navy’s LNS Dzūkas P12, Latvian Navy’s LNS P-06 CĒSIS; Polish Navy’s fast attack craft ORP Piorun, PORT OF GDAŃSK – the Free Customs Zone (WOC) Quay

BME’s most important conference event was the 8th NATCON International Science and Technology Conference on Naval Technologies for Defence and Security, organised by the AMW Polish Naval Academy, the MTG SA Gdańsk International Fair Co., the CTM SA Maritime Technology Research and Development Centre, the ASW War Studies University, the WAT Military University of Technology and the PG Gdańsk University of Technology. Its aim was to build a platform for information exchange between the future users, the industry and the R&D institutes of the Baltic Sea Region. NATCON’s priority subjects included: solutions in maritime military technology, security and safety at sea and on the coast, in ports and critical infrastructure facilities, as well as in sea rescue. The conference had 250 participants from 11 countries, who represented 47 scientific institutions.

The 3rd Science Clubs Conference on Security Challenges was also popular as an especially important event, its subject matter fitting in with the celebration of 100 years of the restoration of the Polish Navy. The event was attended by 100 participants, with 54 papers delivered to them by speakers from 19 universities.

It is for the 4th time that Gdańsk hosted the RESCUE EXPO International Conference and Exhibition of Medical Rescue, which showcased the latest trends and standards of procedure in rescue operations and emergency medicine. The event was accompanied by rescue and emergency exercises and demonstrations, certified medical workshops, a showcase of safety and security companies and an emergency services exhibition. Paramedics were able to earn 16 credits by participating. The event was organised in close partnership with the Polish Professional Paramedic Association (SZRM). This year’s edition of the Conference confirmed RESCUE EXPO to be an excellent place for the exchange of know-how, experience and expectations between the research community, manufacturers, suppliers and users of equipment. The Conference and workshops were attended by 250 participants.

Delivered on the waters of the Port of Gdynia, the counter-terrorist and rescue exercise demonstration, code name KORSARZ 18, enjoyed great interest. The presentation of vessels moored at the Port of Gdańsk’s Free Customs Zone (WOC) was a special and unique attraction. The vessels available for public viewing were: Latvian Navy’s P-06 CĒSIS, Lithuanian Navy’s LNS Dzūkas P12 and Polish Navy’s fast attack craft ORP Piorun.

For the first time, BME featured the prestigious President of the Republic of Poland Award to promote products which are of the greatest merit to both the Polish Armed Forces and the services subject to Poland’s Ministry of Interior, and which feature novel technological solutions and unique operational qualities. The Award Committee also selected the winner of the Grand Prix and winners of three equal prizes: BME Amber Medallions. Prestigious awards were also presented by: Polish Navy Inspector, PIPNOK Polish Chamber of National Defence Manufacturers, Polish Border Guard Commander-in-Chief, Polish Naval Academy Rector–Commandant and the Executive Board of the KSOIN National Classified Information Protection Society. Crystal Lighthouses were awarded to NATCON International Science and Technology Conference participants.
